We are delighted that an individual Beth has known for a decade has agreed to move into our house and take care of our cat for the duration of our trip. Even better, he is a caring and compassionate individual who has earned our trust. Our house location puts him closer to his work and gives his cat a bigger space to live. It gives us the much-needed peace of mind that all will be well looked after while we are away.

We have taken steps toward having the house and associated administrative details function as self sufficiently as possible. Bills are paid automatically and/or on-line, mail is forwarded to our son, an automatic whole house backup generator has been installed, monitoring and control systems have been installed, and local points-of-contact have been lined up for when needed.

Beth has trained replacements, where needed, for her volunteer Carilion Hospital, Taubman Museum of Art, and Blue Ridge Literacy jobs. Mike transferred some of his Boy Scout and Kiwanis volunteer responsibilities to others and has retained some responsibilities that he can perform remotely. Both of his project management clients have agreed to continue working with him remotely.
